Step-by-step guides for getting the most out of All-22 Review.

1. Getting Started

Set up your film library and load your first game in under five minutes.

  1. Create a parent folder on your computer for all your game film (e.g., Film)
  2. Inside that folder, create a subfolder for each game (e.g., Week 1 vs Lincoln)
  3. Place your video files inside each game folder — one file per camera angle (endzone, sideline, All-22, etc.)
  4. Optionally add an Excel file (.xlsx) with play-by-play data to the game folder — the app will detect and import it automatically
  5. Open All-22 Review and click Open Library in the sidebar
  6. Select your parent Film folder — the app will scan it and list all games
  7. Click a game to load it. Your clips, data grid, and angles are ready to review

Tip: Start your 7-day free trial or enter a license key in Settings on first launch.

2. Reviewing Film

Navigate plays, switch angles, and control playback speed — all from the keyboard.

  1. Click any row in the data grid to jump to that play
  2. Press Shift+Space to play or pause
  3. Tap Shift+ to advance through angles, then to the next play
  4. Tap Shift+ to go back through angles, then to the previous play
  5. Hold Shift+ to fast-forward at 4× speed. Release to stop
  6. Hold Shift+ for slow motion (0.5×). Release to stop
  7. Tap Shift+ to restart the clip from the rewind mark
  8. Use the playback speed button to cycle between 0.5×, 1×, and 2×
  9. Use the loop button to cycle between play-once, loop, and auto-advance modes

See all shortcuts on the Keyboard Shortcuts page.

3. Creating Playlists

Build playlists (cut-ups) from game clips to organize film for your staff or specific game-plan scenarios.

  1. Right-click a row in the data grid and select Add to Playlist, or click New Playlist in the sidebar
  2. Give your playlist a name (e.g., “3rd Down Pass Concepts”)
  3. To add more clips, click the +Clips button in the playlist toolbar — this opens a browser where you can pick plays from any loaded game
  4. Drag items up or down within the playlist to reorder
  5. Playback auto-advances through the playlist. Use the same Shift+arrow keys to navigate
  6. Each clip retains its original metadata (Quarter, Down, Distance, etc.) for reference
  7. To remove a clip, right-click it and select Remove

Tip: You can mix clips from different games into a single playlist — just load multiple games first.

4. Annotations

Draw routes, highlight assignments, and mark players directly on paused video frames.

  1. Pause the video on the frame you want to annotate
  2. Select a drawing tool from the toolbar or use a shortcut key: F freehand, L line, A arrow, R rectangle, G triangle, O circle, T text
  3. Choose a color (8 available: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, white, black) and stroke width
  4. Draw on the video frame — click and drag to place shapes
  5. Click an existing shape to select it, then change its color or width, or press ⌘Z / Ctrl+Z to undo
  6. Press Esc to switch back to the cursor/select tool
  7. Annotations auto-save per clip and persist across sessions

Annotation playback modes:

  • Pause at annotations — playback pauses when reaching annotated frames
  • Skip annotations — jump past annotated frames during playback
  • Annotations off — annotations are visible but don’t affect playback

Click the annotation mode button in the toolbar to cycle through these modes.

5. Filtering & Reports

Filter plays by any column and view tendency breakdowns to spot patterns in your opponent’s film.

  1. Click the filter icon on any column header in the data grid
  2. Select one or more values to filter by — multiple values within the same column use OR logic (e.g., “1st down OR 2nd down”)
  3. Filter across multiple columns for AND logic (e.g., “1st down AND Shotgun formation”)
  4. Active filters affect everything: the grid view, playback navigation, exports, and reports
  5. Open the Reports panel on the right to see tendency breakdowns
  6. Reports are grouped into three sections: Situations (Quarter, Down, Distance, etc.), Offense (Formation, Play Type, Direction, etc.), and Defense (Front, Coverage, Pressure)
  7. Each card shows play counts for every value. Click any value to instantly filter the grid to those plays
  8. Click Clear Filters to reset and show all plays

6. Exporting Cut-Ups

Export plays from the grid or from a playlist as individual clips or a single compiled video.

  1. Click the Export button in the grid toolbar or the playlist toolbar
  2. Choose a destination folder and name for your export
  3. Select an export mode:
    • Individual clips — each play is saved as a separate video file in a folder
    • Single compiled video — all plays are concatenated into one .mp4 file
  4. Optionally include annotation data (game grid exports only) — saved as annotations.json
  5. When exporting multiple plays with data, an Excel file with all metadata is included automatically
  6. Click Export and wait for the process to complete. A summary shows how many clips were copied

Tip: Active filters affect exports from the game grid — only visible plays are exported.

7. Presentations

Combine PDF slides and video clips into a single presentation for staff meetings and game-plan sessions.

  1. Click New Presentation in the sidebar or from the library panel
  2. Add slides by dragging a PDF file into the presentation — each page becomes a separate slide
  3. Add video plays from your loaded games or from a playlist
  4. Drag items to reorder slides and plays within the presentation
  5. Click on any item to add or edit presenter notes in the right panel
  6. Use Shift+ and Shift+ to advance through the presentation during your meeting
  7. Slides display in the video window. Video plays play normally with full playback controls

Tip: Presentations are saved per library, so your staff meeting prep is always where you left it.
